B.Ed. Special Needs Education:

Course Structure

The B.Ed. Special Needs Education program is structured over four years, combining theory, practical experience, and research. Key areas of study include:

1. Foundation Courses:

2. Core Special Needs Courses:

  • Assessment and Identification of Special Needs

3. Professional Development and Teaching Practice:

  • Classroom Management

  • Special Needs Practicum

4. Electives & Workshops:
Students may choose electives that align with their interests, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, or Emotional and Behavioural Disorders, enhancing their expertise in a specialized area.

Entry Requirements

To gain admission into the B.Ed. Special Needs Education program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum O’Level Credits: 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, and any two Science or Social Science subjects.

  • UTME Requirement: Candidates must sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with a recommended score in relevant subjects.

  • Direct Entry: Applicants with NCE in Special Education or related fields may apply for direct entry into the second year.
