Bachelor of Agriculture (B. Agriculture)

The Bachelor of Agriculture (B. Agriculture) program at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUED) is a dynamic and forward-thinking course designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to thrive in Nigeria’s vibrant agricultural sector. Course Structure

The B. Agriculture program spans four to five years, depending on course pace and student progression. The curriculum is carefully structured to blend scientific theory, practical applications, and modern agricultural technologies. Students explore a wide range of topics including:

  • Crop Production and Management – Understanding plant biology, crop physiology, and sustainable cultivation practices.

  • Animal Science – Breeding, nutrition, and livestock management.

  • Soil Science – Soil fertility, conservation, and management techniques.

  • Agricultural Economics & Extension – Principles of farm management, agricultural policy, and community-based extension services.

  • Agricultural Engineering – Introduction to farm machinery, irrigation systems, and post-harvest technologies.

  • Research & Project Work – Practical projects, field studies, and experimental research to solve real-world agricultural challenges.

The program also integrates industrial attachments and farm practice, giving students invaluable exposure to commercial farms, agro-allied industries, and research institutes. By graduation, students are well-prepared to enter careers in agribusiness, research, education, and government agricultural agencies.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the B. Agriculture program at AIFUED, prospective students must meet the following criteria:

  • O’Level Requirements: Five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, and Physics at SSCE, WAEC, NECO, or equivalent.

  • JAMB UTME Requirement: A minimum score set by the University and recognition by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

  • Direct Entry: HND in relevant agricultural fields or A-level passes in related science subjects are considered for advanced entry.
