Course Structure

  • Social Research Methods: Quantitative and qualitative research techniques, data analysis, and reporting.

  • Social Stratification and Inequality: Understanding class, gender, ethnicity, and power dynamics in society.

  • Urban and Rural Sociology: Exploration of societal changes in urbanization and rural communities.

  • Sociology of Education and Development: Examining the role of education and development in societal transformation.

  • Criminology and Social Deviance: Insight into crime, deviant behavior, and mechanisms of social control.

Entry Requirements

Aspiring students are expected to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • UTME Candidates: Minimum of five credit passes at O’Level (WAEC/NECO) including English Language, Mathematics, and any Social Science subject.

  • JAMB Score: Meet the university’s JAMB cut-off score for the Sociology program.

  • Direct Entry: Candidates with relevant ND or NCE qualifications in Social Sciences may apply for direct entry into the second year.
