Year 1

  • Introduction to Home Economics (3 units): Overview of the field, history, and scope.

  • Basic Nutrition (3 units): Fundamentals of human nutrition and dietetics.

  • Principles of Food Preparation (3 units): Techniques and principles of food preparation.

  • Introduction to Clothing and Textiles (2 units): Basics of fabric types, sewing techniques, and fashion trends.

Year 2

Entry Requirements

To gain admission into the Education Home Economics program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • UTME Candidates:

    • Minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and one other relevant subject.

    • An acceptable score in the UTME with relevant subject combinations (English, Biology, Chemistry, and any other relevant subject).

  • Direct Entry Candidates:

    • A’Level passes in Biology and Chemistry.

    • NCE with merit in Home Economics or related fields.

    • OND/HND in relevant fields with a minimum of lower credit.
