Course Content

Year 1

  • Introduction to Physics (3 units): Fundamentals of Physics, including mechanics, waves, and energy.

  • Use of English and Library Skills (2 units): Academic communication and research skills.

Year 2

  • Electricity and Magnetism (3 units): Fundamental principles of electromagnetism.
  • Pedagogy in Physics (3 units): Techniques for teaching Physics effectively.
  • Measurement and Instrumentation (3 units): Handling and using Physics instruments.
  • Environmental Physics (2 units): Physics applications in environmental studies.

Year 3

  • Quantum Physics (3 units): Introduction to quantum mechanics and its applications.
  • Curriculum Development in Science Education (3 units): Designing Physics curricula for schools.
  • Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics (3 units): Concepts of heat, work, and statistical mechanics.

Year 4

  • Teaching Practice (6 units): Practical classroom teaching in schools.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the Education Physics program, candidates must have:

  • At least five (5) O’Level credits, including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and one other Science subject.
  • A minimum score in UTME as specified by the university.
  • Direct entry candidates must have an NCE, OND, or A-Level passes in relevant subjects.
