Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Imo State invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for appointment to the post of Director of Works and Services.<h4>DUTIES</h4>The Director of Works and Services shall be the Chief Works, Maintenance, and Utilities Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice- Chancellor and the University Governing Council for execution, operations, and maintenance. Duties shall include:i.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Execution, supervision, and maintenance of University buildings, roads, drainage systems, and civil infrastructure.ii.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, water supply (including boreholes), sewage, and waste management systems.iii.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Management of workshops, plant, equipment, vehicles, and maintenance schedules.iv.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Implementation of approved projects in line with specifications provided by the Directorate of Physical Planning and other approving authorities.v.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ensuring safety standards, preventive maintenance, and efficient service delivery across the campus.vi.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Preparation of maintenance budgets, work programmes, and technical reports.vii.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Performing such other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor in liaison with the University Governing Council from time to time.<h4>QUALIFICATIONS</h4>Candidates must:i.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Possess a good honours degree in any of Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building, or related Engineering disciplines from a recognized institution.ii.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Have at least fifteen (15) years post-qualification cognate experience, with strong hands-on experience in works, utilities, and facilities maintenance in a tertiary or comparable institution.iii.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Not be below the rank of Deputy Director of Works and Services/Works and Maintenance in a University or similar institution.iv.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Not be more than 59 years of age as at the time of application.v.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Be registered with relevant professional bodies such as COREN, NSE, NIOB, asapplicable.vi.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Possession of a post graduate degree in a relevant discipline shall be an added advantage.<h4>TENURE</h4>The post is a tenured appointment for a single term of five (5) years.<h4>CONDITIONS OF SERVICE</h4>The appointment shall be on CONTISS 15 and subject to conditions of service applicable to Federal Universities in Nigeria.
