ALVAN IKOKU FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, OWERRI – PRESS RELEASE
The attention of the Management of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri has been drawn to allegations in the news media, especially the social media, regarding certificate racketeering and other issues leveled against the institution and its officers by one Mr. Eche James Ikwue.
Ikwue, Eche James was a student of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri. He studied Computer Science Education and graduated in 2011. Eche was not a bright student, and not employable. He had no post graduate qualification and had no experience. Management simply needed to know how students evaded payment of school fees and it decided to draft him to assist Task Force to track his fellow culprits.
Eche was never employed by Alvan as a Consultant of any kind. Rather he came to Management and informed it that he had ideas of how students graduated without payment of school fees. Management desperately needed to stop such evasion and so decided to integrate him into a Task Force already put in place to recover fees owed by students. He was stopped from parading himself as a member of the Task Force set up by the College because of his unbridled exploitative tendencies targeted at the students whom he subjected to pay him in both “cash and kind”.
Eche, in a desperate bid to further smear the image of the College, reported the Provost, Registrar, Bursar, the College Director of Works and the Deputy Registrar (Degree Exams) to ICPC, for gross misconduct. All were absolved of the trumped up charges, yet this disgruntled Eche is still running from pillar to post. His fear of losing the opportunity and facing the job market is making him senselessly desperate. He has maintained a fatalistic insistence to disparage the reputation of the College and blackmail her honour, including the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and some Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Furthermore, it is impossible for the College to get into certificate racketeering with the stringent supervisory control of University of Nigeria, Nsukka to which the College is affiliated since 1981. It is impossible. All institutions and authorities he complained to, dismissed his claim as the ranting of an ant! His present mischief is as a result of greed and inordinate ambition which made him put up a bill of N19m (Nineteen Million Naira) as a percentage of money he thought he recovered. He began this blackmail and mischief when he was asked to present the details of such erroneous bill.
In view of the extent to which Eche James Ikwue has tried to destroy the good name of our College, the general public should please note that Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri remains one of the Best Teacher Education Institutions in Nigeria and should ignore his antics.
