Alvan Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Co-Author Chapter in Landmark Higher Education Publication

The Vice-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Professor Stella Ngozi Lemchi, recently represented the institution at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Equal Opportunity Group National Engagement on Inclusive Higher Education and Artificial Intelligence, held at the headquarters of the National Universities Commission in Abuja.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of a landmark book in honor of the outgoing Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede.

The event also marked a significant achievement for Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education as the publication featured a chapter co-authored by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stella Ngozi Lemchi, and the institution's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Michael Olugbenga Ajileye.

Titled “A Peep into the Future of Higher Education in Nigeria”, the book is a collection of scholarly contributions from distinguished professors and academics across the country. The foreword was written by former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Professor Lemchi and Professor Ajileye co-authored Chapter Three, titled "From Brain-Drain to Brain-Gain: Institutionalizing Circular Diaspora Migration in Nigerian Higher Education." In the chapter, the authors present an innovative perspective on the long-standing challenge of academic migration, arguing that the emigration of Nigerian academics, traditionally viewed as "brain drain," can be transformed into an opportunity for national educational development.

They proposed the adoption of a Circular Diaspora Academic Migration model, which encourages Nigerian universities to engage diaspora scholars in teaching, research, student supervision, curriculum development, and mentorship through a combination of virtual platforms and periodic physical engagements. According to the authors, the model offers a practical and scalable framework for transforming academic mobility from a source of institutional loss into a catalyst for renewal and growth within Nigeria's higher education sector.

Members of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education community have congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) for their contribution to the landmark publication, describing it as a significant scholarly achievement and a valuable contribution to the ongoing discourse on the future of higher education in Nigeria.
