BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS
The School started as Advanced Teachers Training College in 1963 which later transformed into Alvan Ikoku College of Education in 1973, May 31st which awarded National Certificate of Education at the end of the programme to the students. Usually the courses are combination of two different courses all in the school of Arts.

As time went on the college became affiliated to University of Nigeria Nsukka thereby awarding UNN degree to her students, even students under her school. The college later became Federal College of Education in 2007 taken over by the Federal Government.
On June 2nd 2023, the college was pronounced a University following assessment from the Federal Ministry of Education the University was made a full fledge one on the 20th October 2023 in that capacity the school of Arts transformed into the Faculty of Arts. The school of Arts has been in existence from inception of NCE Award.
With the existence of the new Faculty of Arts the following courses would be taught:
With the prospect of doing another foreign language. In all 17 courses are to taught in the faculty for the time being.
AIMS/ OBJECTIVES
The main interest of the faculty is for the development of the student as a person; his / her training is for them to be effective teacher and sound people in the society. The courses in the faculty includes the consideration of the aim of education, place of education and it’s relation to the rest of the curriculum, the role of the educationist in the society, the way the education would impact on the growing generation consequently on completion of the programme the student should;

MISSION STATEMENT
The Faculty of Arts Aim for an Alpha Position in Engaging and Exposing Students Meaningfully, In Order to Produce Competent, Entrepreneurial and effective teachers and other professionals in the Arts languages and performance within an Atmosphere of Genuine academic and social Mix.
