PROFILE OF THE DEAN, FACULTY OF VOCATIONAL AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

Dr. Livinus C. Okereke – the 13th elected Dean, School of Vocational and Technology Education, AIFUE, Owerri, and also elected 1st Maiden Dean on 1st September, 2023, Faculty of Vocational and Technology Education.

He holds Bachelor of Science B.Sc. Edu/Accountancy, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDB) Accountancy option both from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Dr. L.C. Okereke holds Masters of Business Administration MBA (Finance), Masters of Science (Finance) and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Accounting. Dr. L.C. Okereke has a wealth of experience since he joined Alvan Community in August 1993. He has served as Pioneer Departmental Co-ordinator Evening Weekend Programme, in 1998-2003, Head, Department of Accountancy 2004-2006, Deputy Dean Student Affairs 2008-2010, Co-ordinator Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) 2019-2020, re-appointment in the year 2020-2021. Dr. L.C. Okereke by his wealth of experiences has been Chairman and member that served on several University Committees, including member Tax force for Rehabilitation of Alvana Community Bank 1999-2000, Pioneer Editor Journal of Occupation and Training (JOT), School of Agriculture and Vocational Studies (SAVS), AICE, Owerri, 2000-2004, member – Panel to review the proposal for the establishment of pure water production project for AICE 2004, member committee on Re-capitalization of Alvana Community Bank (CB) i.e. Conversion from Community Bank (CB) to Micro-Finance Bank (MFB) 2004, Internal Auditor; Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Member, Handover/Negotiation Committee AIFCE, on 2011, Founder/Chairman; Proposal Committee for the establishment of Alvan Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society (ASMPCS) on 2011-2012, Accreditation Panel Member; appointed by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Kaduna as Accreditation Panel Member for ND/HND Accountancy – Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Kastina State, 2012, Delta State Polytechnic Otefe Oghara, 2011, and Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State, 2009. Member Teaching Practice Monitoring Committee, AIFCE, Owerri – 2011-2018, Tax force on Recovery of Office in AIFCE, Owerri 2018, Chairman, Examination Committee, SAVS, 2019, member committee on proper documentation of Alvana Ventures AIFCE, Owerri, 2020, Member; Committee on Repositioning of Alvana Water Factory AIFCE, 2020. Chairman, Board Audit Committee, Alvana Micro-finance Bank (AMFB) Ltd, Owerri 2011-2014, Re-elected because of experience in 2014-2016. Member, Finance, Budget, Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) and investment Sub-Committee University transaction AIFUE, Owerri January, 2024. Member Committee on Resource Verification/Accreditation of undergraduate programme of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. February, 2024.

Chairman, Faculty Board meetings 19th September, 2023 till date. Dr. Okereke, L.C., is a Professional Accountant, and also a strong advocate for Accounting, Taxation, Auditing & Investigations and Feasibility studies among others. He is a member of Eleven Professional bodies in Nigeria, including Association National Accountants of Nigeria, (ANAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Member Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM) and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) among others.

Dr. L.C. Okereke has published over fifty (50) reputable journals in National, International, Professional & Local Journals, seven (7) Research Textbooks, Three Edited books and Six (6) book Chapters. Dr. Okereke L.C. had attended over sixty (60) National, International and Local Conferences/workshops. Dr. Okereke L.C. is happily married to Lady Okereke M.O. and blessed with children.

Dr. Okereke L.C. is a devout Christian and a dedicated Catholic faithful. He is guided in life by principles of openness, faithful love to humanity, humility, diligence, accountability and strong belief for equity & justice.
